All NEW OCEAN YACHTS 57 ODYSSEY ON DISPLAY AT
THE 2003 HOUSTON IN-THE-WATER BOAT SHOW

In The Water Houston Boat Show OCTOBER 2-5, 2003 Houston International Boat Show After the success of the first edition in the boat builder's new series of luxury cruising yachts, Ocean Yachts takes nautical innovation a step further with the all-new 57 Odyssey. Like the revolutionary 65 Odyssey, the 57 model breaks with tradition, while capitalizing on Ocean's heritage, in order to deliver a far-ranging, purpose built cruiser with the speed and rough-water performance of a convertible. "The Odyssey project is rather an eclectic one, borrowing and improving on the best in modern yacht design and production", says Vice President, Sales and Marketing Douglas Finney.

Her beamy (16' 10" / 5.13 m) hull is celebrated for its exceptional rough-water performance, designed to be drier, more fuel-efficient, and faster in rough waters. The 57 Odyssey possesses increased deadrise forward to produce a deeper entry and a softer ride. A pair of down-angled lifting strakes are positioned to feed water into the suction area naturally occurring on planning hulls to reduce resistance. The boat is also designed to feed water to the props, resulting in less slippage and improved efficiency at lower speeds.

With her completely enclosed bridge, reminiscent of a traditional pilot-house, together with her spacious salon and separate five-place dinette, the 57 Odyssey offers enviable opportunities for stylish entertaining at the dock or on the water.

The 57 Odyssey assures exceptional interior volume and intelligent use of space. Extended over-water trips are a pleasure in this cruising yacht, with superb accommodations for as many as six travelers in the standard three stateroom / three head layout. An optional sofa bed, which sleeps two, is available in the salon.

Standard power is provided by fully electronic twin Caterpillar 3406E (800 BHP) diesel engines. With them, the 57 Odyssey is expected, conservatively, to cruise at a comfortable 25 knots. Twin CAT C-18 (1015 BHP), DDC/MTU Series 60 (825 BHP), or MAN 10-cylinder D284OLE403 (1050 BHP) diesels are available as an option.

Come experience new heights of luxury and design as you walk aboard the new Ocean Yachts 57 Odyssey, showcased at the 2003 Houston In-the-Water Boat Show.

REVOLUTIONARY LAGOON CATAMARAN SHOWCASED AT
THE 2003 HOUSTON IN-THE-WATER BOAT SHOW

In The Water Houston Boat Show OCTOBER 2-5, 2003 Houston International Boat Show After 4 years of study and research, Lagoon proudly presents its first power catamaran, Lagoon Power 43. In entering this promising yet relatively untouched new market, Lagoon introduces a boat genuinely designed for the private owner, with a modest size and a reasonable price tag.

The ease of operation resulting from the twin diesels spread by her 21 foot beam is complimented by a much lower operating cost of a monohull of comparable liveability. No requirement for bow thrusters or expensive stabilizers further reduces front end and operating costs. The 43 foot catamaran will cruise as high as 16 to 18 knots and burn only 8 to 10 gallons per hour.

The ergonomics of the entire boat were carefully studied so that moving around on deck as well as inside is easy and comfortable. The center cockpit of the Lagoon Power 43 has an open yet protected view of the water, and it also has straight access to the salon. There is a full panoramic view from the owner's cabin as well as from the station. The transom connects the two stern sections and provides room for storage lockers, a swim ladder, and a deck shower.

The Lagoon Power 43 offers several different engine options and interior finishes, thus creating a yacht capable of long nonstop crossings, quick day runs, fishing trips, and coastal navigation, or serious extended cruises. This exciting and revolutionary cruising yacht can be yours at the 2003 Houston In-the-Water Boat Show, October 2-5, at Watergate Yachting Center, Clear Lake Shores.

ONE OF THE LAST REMAINING WWII LANDING CRAFTS
TO BE DISPLAYED AT THE IN-THE-WATER BOAT SHOW

In The Water Houston Boat Show OCTOBER 2-5, 2003 Houston International Boat Show One of the only surviving landing crafts used in World War II will be at this year's Houston In-the-Water Boat Show. The restored LCP (L) [Landing Craft Personnel, Large] will be on display as a result of years of efforts by local volunteers and donations by various individuals and businesses.

The LCP (L) was originally designed as a Eureka utility boat in 1943 by Andrew Jackson Higgins of Higgins Industries in New Orleans, LA, and later converted to a landing craft during World War II. The simple design of the boat was ideal for carrying troops from the troop carrier to the beach during landings such as Guadalcanal.

The LCP (L) is 37 feet long and 10' 10" wide, large enough to carry 28 men or up to 8,000 lbs of supplies. She had a single diesel engine and a three bladed propeller, driving a top speed of approximately nine knots. She was armed with two forward facing 30 caliber machine guns and was constructed of spruce and mahogany plywood. Considered an "expendable" warship, today she is one of the last few of her breed still afloat in the world. The salt water through which she traveled daily preserved her precious mahogany hull for 60 years.

Since she was found in San Francisco Bay as a salmon fishing boat in 2001, volunteers from The Defenders of America Naval Museum have worked countless weekends and holidays to restore and reconfigure the boat to her former glory during the war. This vintage craft will be a living museum once fully restored and in the water. The Defenders of America Naval Museum strives to keep the LCP (L) preserved and in seaworthy condition so that future generations may see and learn from the past.

Don't miss this remarkable piece of our national history at the 2003 Houston In-the-Water Boat Show, October 2 thru October 5 at Watergate Yachting Center, Clear Lake Shores.
